Employees Are Losing Patience with Change Initiatives

Increased frequency of change has taken a toll on employee willingness to support these intiatives:

According to a Gartner survey, the number of planned enterprise changes experienced by employees increased significantly in 2022, with the average employee facing 10 changes compared to just two in 2016. However, this increased frequency of change has taken a toll on employee willingness to support these initiatives.

In 2022, only 43% of employees were willing to support enterprise change, a sharp decline from 74% in 2016. The pandemic added additional strain on employees, who have been working tirelessly to adapt.

To ensure more sustainable change efforts, leaders need to prioritize change initiatives and guide employees on where to focus their energies. It is also crucial to address change fatigue by incorporating periods of proactive rest, involving employees in change plans, and challenging managers to foster team resilience.
