Three Simple Questions to Drive Self-motivation & Productiveness

According to Brian Tracy, There are three questions a person need to ask on a regular basis to keep the motivation and productivity around:

  1. What are my Highest Value Activities?
  2. What can I and only I do that if done well will make a real difference?
  3. What is the most valuable use of my time right now?

Question no.1 What are my Highest Value Activities?

All the things you do to get a right business or all the contributions you make for the organization are your Highest Value Activities. This is one of the most important questions you need to ask yourself and the people around you. Why??

We are not always able to do Highest value activities. Not all our activities and work support the organization in a greater way. For example, members of an Inbound team are responsible for the website look and feel, branding, virtual customer engagement, social media, email management and so on. The more they showcase the product/service, the more it enables the organization to get customer attention. But in case your social media is managed by a person who has no idea how to attract audience attention or a CRM doing only emails rather than a face to face conversation with the clients -- This is what we call “Doing things without a care.”

So, you need to think this through first. Then ask your co-workers, subordinates, managers -- What should I do to make myself more efficient? What am I lacking at? What are the new skills do you think I can learn? Let me tell you, this kind of open communication helps a lot. Sometimes when you feel fear, insecurities, instability or doubts on your work, do this. And most people reply earnestly to this kind of questions because they also desire to see a productive team and a thriving organization.

Question no.2 What can I and only I do that if done well will make a real difference?

It is one of the questions to know your effectiveness, current ability or the extends you can reach. This question is about finding something that only you can do. If you are not doing it, you can’t lead others --- Like venturing/leading into unexplored territories, so that you can make others journey little bit easier and safer.

Every hour of every day, ask yourself this and come with significant answers -- The answers that would transform you into a trustworthy leader for your people and a true change pioneer.

Question no. 3 What is the most valuable use of my time right now?

This is for those who want to plan their time carefully and achieve mastery over time management. Offering an explanation to this question would make you lessen the time postponement and become more beneficial in everything you do.

“Things that matter most must never be
at the mercy of things that matter least.”
-- Goethe

Every hour of every day, one task represents the most valuable use of your time at that moment. If you are unsure about what to choose or at a point where you feel that you are not making the highest utilization of your time, then ask this question to yourself over and over again untill you get the accurate answer.

This is it for today.
